Last year I had the great idea to start substitute teaching in District 1. I really really enjoy it, though it stinks having to get up so early to drive from Spartanburg to Nannys house in Campobello and then where ever the school is. This week I am subbing Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for the strings teacher at Landrum Middle, Landrum High, and Campobello Grahmling. The schedule is weird, but good- Bus duty at Landrum Middle from 715-730 then class there until 955, then a break until 1145, then class at Campobello Grahmling until 1225 then a break until 145 then a class at Landrum High until 315. So in between classes I was able to go to Nannys house, eat, visit Ethan, and of course catch some cat naps!! I have subbed for strings before and the students seem to like me pretty well. The day was good except 2 of the 6th graders had a miscommunication and ended up breaking the bridge off of a cello. I am not musically gifted, but I am smart enough to know that this was not good!!! After calling the teacher I was relieved to find out that the cello belonged to the school and not another student.
After my first day of work for this semester of the school year, I had to bring Ethan to the doctor. He has been getting up in the middle of the night, has been excessively cranky, and has barely eaten. So after 2 hours at Pediatric Associates (but I am not complaining b/c they had an opening at 530!) Ethan is back on his Zantac for his acid reflux and has to have motrin at night and tylenol during the day b/c he is getting his 2 year molars. I was happy that he didnt have strep throat (his throat was red) or the flu (he was exposed this past weekend) or an ear infection (the story of our lives!!) Hopefully he will feel better! He now weighs 28.7 pounds, after we struggled to get him to get on the scale. Ethan cried the entire time we were at the doctors and frequently said "go mommy" so we'd leave. He even told Dr. McCloud "bye gurl" when she walked in the room. Bless his baby heart!!
